The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday expressed its reservations over the level playing field ahead of the general elections.
The PTI delegation called on the ECP officials in Islamabad. On the PTI’s reservations, the ECP had penned the letters to the provincial election commissioner, chief secretaries, and Sindh IG.
The ECP wrote: “The election campaigns are going on with verve across the country. It is up to the commission to hold independent, transparent elections. According to Article 220, the federal and provincial governments are obliged to assist the ECP.”.
“The complaints are being received regarding the acquisition and submission of the nomination papers. The media is also highlighting the news about the nomination papers being snatched,” the electoral watchdog said.

– SC emphasises importance of level playing for all, including PTI –
The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) made it clear on Friday that there is a need to provide a level playing field for all the political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for healthy competition.
In a written verdict, the SC stated that the masses’ confidence in the democratic process is maintained by holding transparent elections.
The apex court underscored the importance of transparent elections, saying that fair elections give legal status to the elected government.
“There should be a reflection of the masses’ will in its real context instead of holding forced elections in the country,” the SC said.
The apex court said: "Holding independent and transparent polls in the country is more important than the results.”
