The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has achieved historic success in December, as for the first time in the country's history, taxes worth more than Rs1 trillion have been collected in one month.
According to the FBR, a record Rs4,468 billion tax was collected in the first half of the current financial year. This was Rs1,000 billion more than the amount collected in the same period last year, which was Rs3,428 billion.
During December, an exact amount of Rs1,021 billion was collected in tax revenue. From July to December this year, Rs43 billion more than the target was collected in taxes; the target for this period was Rs4,425 billion.
