Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman is proceeding on a visit to Afghanistan today where he is scheduled to meet the Afghan Taliban leadership.
The JUI-F emir will be travelling to Kabul along with a delegation of 11 other leaders, including Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi and Maulana Jamaluddin.
Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told Samaa TV that they invited Maulana Fazlur Rehman to visit the “Islamic Emirate”, adding that the JUI-F chief will be apprised of the interim Afghan government's position on Pakistan.
The spokesman further claimed the interim Afghan government and the people were not against Pakistan. He added that Kabul will present its case and that of the Afghan people before the Maulana.
"We have never been against Pakistan and its people," Zabihullah Mujahid told Samaa TV.
It has been reported that the two sides will discuss the improvement of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and the regional situation. Discussions will also be held on other important matters, including the banned TTP, as well as ending of recent tensions and complete restoration of Pak-Afghan relations.
