Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for NA-258, Mir Aslam Buledi, is fighting for his life after a brutal attack near Mir Asiya National Park in Turbat, Balochistan on Wednesday.
Unidentified assailants ambushed Buledi's vehicle, spraying it with gunfire.
PML-N leader sustained serious gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby teaching hospital in critical condition.
A heavy contingent of security personnel has descended upon the area and cordoning off the crime scene.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, but security forces have launched a major operation to hunt down the perpetrators.
Buledi was shot twice in the leg and once in the shoulder, police said.
Hospital administration confirmed that his condition is stable, and he is recovering well. He will be shifted to Karachi for further treatment.
