Muslims worldwide are eagerly anticipating the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan in March 2024, with the probable date for the first fast in Saudi Arabia announced by astronomers.
According to their calculations, the initial day of fasting in Saudi Arabia is expected to be on March 11, marking the beginning of Ramadan.
"This year, Ramadan falls within the winter season for the first time in 26 years," explains Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society. This shift from the usual spring/summer timing introduces longer fasting hours, ranging from 12 to over 17 hours across the globe.
In Saudi Arabia and Egypt, expect fasts to last between 13 and 15 hours, depending on your location. The astronomical calculations also suggest Eidul Fitr, the joyous celebration marking the end of Ramadan, will likely fall on April 10th or 11th in Saudi Arabia. This means Muslims worldwide will soon be immersed in a month of spiritual reflection, fasting, and community gatherings.
As Muslims prepare for this significant month, the diverse fasting times emphasize the global unity and shared spiritual experience of Ramadan.
