International athlete and tennis star Sania Mirza finally responded to the wedding of her former husband Shoaib Malik with actress Sana Javed and wished him well for his new journey ahead.
Shoaib Malik broke the news of marrying actor Sana Javed in a post on January 20.
The Mirza family and team Sania in a post on Instagram said: “Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead.”
“At this sensitive period of her life, we would like to request all fans and well-wishers to refrain from indulging in any speculations and to represent her need for privacy,” the statement reads.

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza's father has reportedly confirmed that she used her right to divorce her former husband Shoaib Malik through a 'khula'.
Indian news agency, the PTI, quoted Sania's father Imran Mirza as saying on Saturday that "it was a khula", which refers to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband.
