The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday seized a factory allegedly involved in manufacturing spurious veterinary drugs and recovered spurious and unregistered drugs worth millions of rupees. Two people have also been arrested in connection with the case.
The FIA received information that certain individuals were involved in the production of fake drugs for animals.
Acting on this tip-off, a team led by Deputy Director Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC), Mian Muhammad Sabir, intercepted a vehicle and recovered a large quantity of drugs during a search.
Drug Inspector Ramiz Khan, who provided technical assistance in the operation, confirmed that the drugs were substandard and fake veterinary medicines.
The driver of the vehicle identified the accused as Muhammad Waqar son of Abdul Sattar and Muhammad Nauman son of Muhammad Siddique, who were subsequently arrested.
Based on the information provided by the accused, the FIA conducted a raid on a factory located in the Islamia Park area of Johar Town.
The raiding team seized machinery and raw materials used in the production of drugs, as well as a large quantity of finished products.
According to Mian Sabir, the team head, the accused were manufacturing more than 19 types of fake medicines in the name of multinational companies.
