Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the World Government Summit in Dubai on Wednesday and expressed that the world needs inclusive and corruption-free governments.
Furthermore, he said that his mantra over the years in politics is just one of minimum government and maximum governance. He also said that in the last few years, trust of the general public of India increased in the government. They believed in the intent and commitment of the government.
The Indian premier also expressed that he wants to stabilize the social-economic and political conditions of Indian women that’s why his government's focus is on woman-led development. He also said that his government's priority is social and financial inclusion, adding that almost 500 million people are connected with the banking system.
“At a time when we are transforming our country, shouldn’t there be reforms in global governance institutions,” he questioned, adding, “While giving priority to our national sovereignty, we have to ensure respect for international law.”
On the other hand, he also noted climate change and terrorism as major challenges facing humanity. He said: “Terrorism in various forms is bringing new challenges before humanity every day. Today, climate challenges are becoming widespread with time. On the one hand, there are domestic concerns, on the other hand, the international system seems in disarray."
He also praised Dubai for becoming an epicenter of global economy, trade, commerce and technology. Under the theme of ‘Shaping New Governments’, the World Government Summit is taking place involving people from around the globe, governments, international organisations, leaders, and private sector individuals.
