The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has unveiled its plans to conduct intra-party elections on March 3. The announcement, released by the PTI, outlines the schedule leading up to the election.
According to the schedule provided by PTI, nomination papers can be submitted by party members on February 23 and 24. Subsequently, the scrutiny of these nomination papers is slated to take place on February 25, with decisions on their validity expected to be made by February 27.
According to the schedule, the polling for PTI's intra-party elections will take place on March 3, with polling booths set up in all four provincial secretariats alongside the central office. This inclusive approach aims to facilitate party members from across Pakistan to participate in the electoral process and exercise their democratic rights.
Furthermore, the PTI has informed the election commission in writing of its decision to hold the intra-party polls. It also submitted its schedule for the polls with the ECP.
On the other hand, disgruntled party leader Akbar S Babar has decided to challenge the PTI's decision to conduct intra-party polls before the election commission. He claimed that the entire current leadership of the PTI had been annulled.
On February 17, PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan had said that party Founder Imran Khan had instructed to hold intra-party elections immediately.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Khan said: “Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has told me that he will make arrangements regarding the intra-party elections.”
“The PTI founder has given the message that we will not be involved in political vendettas if a government forms. He [PTI founder] has asked to follow the pattern of Nelson Mandela’s commission.”
