The Election Commission of Pakistan ECP has issued the schedule of Senate elections to be held on April 2.
ECP Provincial Election Commissioner (Punjab) Ijaz Anwar Chauhan has issued a public notice for the Senate election as the returning officer. The Returning Officer has issued a public notice for the election of 12 Senate seats in Punjab province.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a notification for the schedule and appointment of the returning officer for the holding of the Senate elections 2024 in the province of Punjab.
As per the ECP Punjab spokesman: “Ijaz Anwar Chauhan will perform duties as returning officer for the election of 12 seats of Senate members from Punjab province.”
In Punjab, elections will be held on the seats of 7 general, 2 women, 2 technocrats and scholars, and one non-Muslim member of the Senate.
Candidates will be able to submit nomination papers on 15 and 16 March 2024 in the office of Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab, Lahore.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by 19 March 2024. Appeals can be filed against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers till March 21, 2024. Decisions on appeals will be issued by the tribunal till March 25, 2024. Whereas, on April 2, 2024, polling will be held in Punjab Assembly Hall Lahore from 9am to 4pm.
