Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi delegation on Friday discussed collaborative projects.
During their visit to Pakistan, a delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), headed by Sultan Bin Abdul Rehman Al Marshad, CEO of SFD, had a productive meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The focus was on the ongoing collaborative projects between the two countries.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed his gratitude for the enduring bond between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, praising the SFD's efforts in financing crucial sectors such as healthcare, energy, infrastructure, education, and disaster relief.
In return, the CEO of SFD thanked the Prime Minister and the Pakistani government for their warm reception and hospitality, acknowledging the honour of receiving the National Civil Award, Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam.
A significant highlight of the discussion was the signing of financial agreements worth $107 million for the construction of hydropower stations in AJK earlier that day.
PM Shehbaz emphasised the importance of these projects not only in providing clean energy but also in combating deforestation and creating employment opportunities for the local population.
Updates on ongoing projects, including the Mohmand Multi-purpose Hydropower Project, the Golan Gol Hydropower Project, and the Malakand Regional Development Project, were shared by the CEO of SFD.
PM Shehbaz stressed the need for expediting new projects in green energy and infrastructure to drive economic growth and meet local community needs.
Assurances were made by the CEO of SFD regarding the prompt processing of these shared projects, reaffirming Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting Pakistan under the leadership of the Royal Family.
In closing, PM Shehbaz extended his gratitude to the delegation and conveyed his best wishes to the Royal Family, particularly the Khadim-e-Harmain Sharifain.
