Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has demanded the creation of a judicial commission to inquire into the letter written by Islamabad High Court's six judges, and to ensure the protection of the judges who penned it.
During a press conference with fellow party leader Omar Ayub in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar alleged that there has been interference in the Islamabad High Court and the judiciary.
He called the letter written by the judges a charge sheet, and demanded immediate action on it. "The judges have claimed that there was interference for political cases, which are under trial against Imran Khan only. Therefore, all the cases of the PTI founder should be dismissed immediately," he demanded.
All the decisions, including the arrest of the PTI founder, were taken under pressure, Gohar alleged, and sought complete protection for the judges who wrote the letter and their families.
The lawyer also argued that the Supreme Court should constitute a larger bench today and start hearing the matter from tomorrow. "If there is no action on the letter, people's confidence in the judiciary will be lost.," he claimed.
On this occasion, Omar Ayub said that the judges of the Supreme Judicial Council will have to take effective measures, as the time had come for everyone to abide by the Constitution.
"This issue will be raised in the National Assembly, Senate, provincial assemblies. All institutions should work within their limits," he remarked.
Omar Ayub also alleged that an attempt was made to pressurise Imran Khan, while secret cameras were installed in rooms to exert pressure on judges.
"It is clearly written in the letter that only [Imran Khan] was the intended target. The letter of the six judges is a charge sheet against the administrative affairs of Pakistan, he stated.
