To revive the country’s economy, a crackdown on smuggling is going on in full swing.
Due to the smuggling of important commodities like flour, sugar, fertilizer and oil, the people have to face the worst conditions.
A crackdown was launched on smuggling for the safety of the people and economic stability.
Between March 17 and 24, a total of 18.14 metric tons of fertilizer, 26.08 metric tons of sugar, 288 cigarette case stocks, 962 fabric cans, and 0.696 millilitres of Iranian oil were retrieved during the crackdown from various locations across the country.
Related authorities recovered 100 cigarette stocks from Karachi, 65 from Peshawar and 123 from Quetta, 0.45 metric tons of sugar were recovered from Peshawar while 25.63 metric tons of sugar were seized from Quetta. Moreover, 0.008ml of Iranian oil was recovered from Multan, 0.604ml from Karachi, 0.015ml from Peshawar, and 0.069ml from Quetta.
Since September 1, 2023, 3,036 metric tons of fertilizer, 247 metric tons of flour, 33,956 metric tons of sugar, 226,432 cigarette stocks, 244,578 cloth bags and 4.094ml of Iranian oil have been seized from across the country.
The relevant agencies are determined to continue their operations against smuggling to pull the country out of this difficult time.
