South Africa cricket coach Gary Kirsten and former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie were expected to join the Pakistan national cricket team as coaches by the end of April.
Sources divulged that the coaching of the national cricket team for the series against New Zealand will be done by the local coaches. The decision, in line with the local coaches, was made by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
The names of Mohammad Yousuf, Umar Gul, Abdul Razzaq, Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Akram were considered the local coaches.
Few days back, it was reported that the PCB had sought applications from candidates willing to become coaches until April 15.
The PCB was hopeful that it would reach an agreement with former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten for the white-ball games.
