Fakhar Zaman, Daryl Mitchell and disciplined bowling performances powered Lahore Qalandars to an emphatic 65-run victory over Karachi Kings in the sixth match of the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Karachi Stadium on Tuesday.
Karachi Kings were bowled out for 136 runs in 19.1 overs while chasing a target of 202 set by Lahore Qalandars, with Khushdil Shah top-scoring with 39 runs. Tim Seifert and Shan Masood scored 18 each, Hasan Ali added 27, and Adam Milne managed 16 runs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi and Rishad Hossain took three wickets each for Lahore Qalandars, while Sikandar Raza claimed two wickets.
Haris Rauf and Asif Afridi took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Fakhar Zaman’s blistering 76 from 47 balls and Daryl Mitchell’s fiery 75 from 41 balls powered Lahore Qalandars to a staggering 201-6 against Karachi Kings in the sixth match of the domestic marquee tournament.
Sam Billings scored 19 from 10 balls, which included two boundaries and one six.
Rishad Hossain was run out by David Warner and Adam Milne in a collective effort. Hossain managed only 2 runs.
Hasan Ali (4-28) spearheaded the Kings’ bowling attack, claiming four wickets.
Abbas Afridi (1-47) took a scalp.
Zaman (77 off 47) continued good form from the previous match as he notched up another blazing fifty against the Kings.
Opting to bat first, the Qalandars faced an early hiccup after losing two successive wickets. Mohammad Naeem endured another failure, scoring only 7 runs from 5 balls before he was removed by Hasan Ali.
Abdullah Shafique, who had demonstrated his batting prowess in the previous two games, failed to compile a substantial innings and perished after scoring 6 runs from 9 balls.
But Zaman and Mitchell joined hands to take the Qalandars out of the doldrums and built a 125-run partnership.
