Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam vowed on Wednesday to prepare for the upcoming ICC World T20 Cup with verve.
Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi ahead of the home series against New Zealand, Azam said: "We will ensure to get our preparations done with great vigour as we are having 12 matches prior to the World Cup."
"We try to learn from our past mistakes. We will try to come up with a different strategy for every match," he added.
Speaking about the openers for the forthcoming series, Azam said, "Wait for tomorrow to see who is going to open for the team."
He made it clear that the team would try to come up with a different strategy in the bowling department.
"The primary motive is to prepare the team for the World Cup," he added.
Shedding light on his own role in the team, Azam said, "I enjoy every role in the team."
Talking about the batting department, Azam said: "The batting department gets stronger with the presence of Usman Khan, Shadab Khan, and Imad Wasim in the team. We are now batting till number 8."
"Not only am I expecting others to perform, but also myself," he said.
Azam also expressed satisfaction with the performances of Iftikhar Ahmed, Irfan Niazi, and Azam Khan.
Emphasising the need for making all-out efforts as a player, Azam said: "Every fringe player needs to struggle."
"Every human makes mistakes, and so do I. But I always try to learn from my mistakes," he maintained.
Pakistan and New Zealand will lock horns against each other in the first of the five-match T20I series on April 18.
