Pakistan have yet to finalise the squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup, slated to happen jointly in the United States and West Indies.
Sources divulged on Friday that consultations were underway between the selection committee, head coach, and captain in this regard. The selection committee had proposed to include Salman Ali Agha, Abrar Ahmed, and Hasan Ali in the reserves.
However, no final decision had been made on the proposal of the selection committee.
The reservations were also expressed over the rough patch of opener Saim Ayub.
It might be that Irfan Niazi or Usman Khan can be placed in the reserves.
However, the selection committee was in favour of giving the opportunity to Usman Khan to play.
Sources privy to the development said that Babar Azam continued to defend the inclusion of Saim Ayub. "Saim Ayub should be provided with more opportunities, as he will deliver performances," Babar Azam asked the selection committee and coach.
It is expected that the Pakistan squad for the mega event will be announced on May 22.
