Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist incidents orchestrated from Afghan soil off late, wherein terrorists from Afghanistan attempt to infiltrate through the Pak-Afghan border and target security forces as well as innocent civilians.
In this context, the security forces are conducting operations in the general area of Sambaza in the Zhob district of Balochistan, in addition to other areas along the border, since April 21, said a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations.
It further said that, as a result of effective engagements, 29 terrorists have been successfully neutralised by the security forces in a month. In the same series of operations, Maj Babar Khan also embraced martyrdom while fighting gallantly during an intelligence-based operation on May 14.
The statement said Pakistan’s security forces were determined and remain committed to securing the borders and ensuring the safety of its citizens against the scourge of terrorism.
Pakistan has consistently been asking the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side. Afghanistan is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of the Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
