Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub announced that the party founder has entrusted the leadership of the party in Punjab to Hammad Azhar and Mian Aslam Iqbal.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, he expressed concerns that these leaders might be detained and coerced into making statements against their will.
The PTI leader made it clear that any such forced statements would be categorically rejected by the party leadership. He emphasized the loyalty and commitment of Hammad Azhar and Mian Aslam Iqbal to the party, stating that the party would stand firmly behind them.
Ayub also revealed that Hammad Azhar and Mian Aslam Iqbal met with the PTI founder in jail, where the decision to consolidate the party’s leadership in Punjab was made. He underscored the strategic importance of this move, reflecting the founder’s trust in their leadership abilities.
He pointed out the alarming economic indicators, citing a significant decrease in loans to the private sector and the federal government’s failure to purchase farmers’ crops, resulting in the import of wheat worth billions.
Blaming the federal government for recent unrest in Kashmir, Ayub accused Shehbaz Sharif of betraying the Kashmiris. He pledged that the PTI would continue to protect the Constitution of Pakistan, contrasting the founder's brief, focused meetings with the lengthy sessions held by Nawaz Sharif and his allies.
