The National Highway Authority (NHA) has issued a notification announcing an increase in toll tax on national highways.
The new rates, effective immediately, aim to generate additional revenue for highway maintenance and development.
For cars, the toll tax has been raised from Rs30 to Rs40, while wagons will now pay Rs70, up from Rs50. Buses will pay Rs130, an increase of Rs30, and articulated trucks will pay Rs350, up from Rs250.
However, some routes have seen a reduction in toll tax. On the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, cars will now pay Rs350, down from Rs400, while 12-seater wagons will pay Rs550, a reduction of Rs50. On the M1 Motorway, buses will pay Rs1000, a decrease of Rs200.
Other routes affected by the changes include the N55 Kohat tunnel, M3 Lahore to Abdul Haq Motorway, and M4 Pindi Bhatian, Faisalabad to Multan Motorway. The new rates vary, with some increasing and others decreasing.
The NHA has stated that the revenue generated from the increased toll tax will be used to improve and maintain national highways, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for commuters.
