An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 struck parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) early today (Wednesday).
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad reported widespread tremors across these regions.

The affected KP cities included Peshawar, Swat, Parachinar, Malakand, Lower Dir, Hangu, Charsadda, and Swabi, along with surrounding areas. Reports also indicated tremors felt in North and South Waziristan districts.
The earthquake originated from the southeastern region of Afghanistan, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre.
It had a depth of 98 kilometers. Further updates on any damages or casualties have not been disclosed yet.
