The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has intensified its crackdown on mobile phone fraud, blocking over 1500 SIMs linked to fraudulent activities.
According to details obtained by Samaa TV, PTA recorded a significant number of complaints this year, including 6298 fraud calls and 4838 SMS complaints.
Among these, 782 complaints were related to fraud through WhatsApp, while 487 complaints were linked to scams using the Benazir Income Support Program's name.
Furthermore, citizens reported 191 instances of fraudulent calls and messages associated with the Bol game show.
In addition to blocking SIMs, PTA also took action against mobile phones by blocking the IMEI numbers of 1401 devices.
A spokesperson from PTA emphasized stringent measures being implemented to combat mobile phone fraud, underscoring their commitment to safeguarding users from fraudulent activities.
