The construction of a dam at gates 47 and 44 of the Sukkur Barrage is progressing rapidly as large sandbags are being used to stop the water flow and restore the canal system.
The swift action follows the washing away of gate 47 and the damage to gate 44 four days ago.
The barrage administration has accelerated the work, employing heavy lifting to place the sandbags effectively.
Once the dam construction is complete, the canal system is expected to be fully restored, ensuring the continued functionality of the barrage.
Committee formed on damage
Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro formed a 5-member investigation committee on the damage of Sukkur Barrage doors.
The committee will submit a report to Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro and the Secretary of Irrigation within a month. The Irrigation Department said the committee should explain the reasons for the incident and assign responsible officers.
