The Foreign Office spokesperson said on Tuesday that social media posts regarding the Human Rights Council resolution on Palestine were based on false media reports.
These posts reflected a misunderstanding of the process for adopting the resolution.
Responding to the social media posts concerning the Human Rights Council resolution on Palestine, the Foreign Office spokesperson, Shafqat Ali, said that the resolution in question was an annual joint initiative of the OIC group in Geneva.
The group focused on Israeli actions and accountability in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said in his statement that Pakistan presented the resolution as the OIC coordinator. In accordance with the established procedure, Pakistan only presented the resolution.
He said that the Palestinian delegation expressed satisfaction with the text, and the OIC group gave final approval. Resolutions concerning the occupied territories in the Human Rights Council were guided by the priorities of Palestine. Pakistan did not unilaterally amend the text at any stage.
The spokesperson said that Pakistan did not recognise Israel and, in principle, did not join multilateral forums with it. Any suggestion to include Israeli priorities was baseless.
