The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has forecast rains across the province starting today and continuing until July 1.
In light of the impending weather, the PDMA has issued an alert, urging residents and authorities to take necessary precautions.
The PDMA has highlighted the risk of urban flooding in several key cities, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Narowal. Heavy storms and occasional hail are also expected to affect various districts across the province, posing additional challenges for residents and infrastructure.

The PDMA has also noted a significant increase in solar panel installations and has advised that steps be taken to protect solar plates during severe storms. The authority has also called on the administrations of flood-prone districts to clear the channels of rivers and canals to facilitate smooth water flow and minimize flood risks.
Furthermore, the PDMA has cautioned against crossing rivers and canals during the rains and floods. To ensure safety, the PDMA director general has emphasized the strict enforcement of laws prohibiting bathing in rivers and canals during this period.

Despite the sweltering conditions, residents have yet to find relief. However, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon as a pre-monsoon rain system is expected to enter the city this week, potentially bringing a much-needed break from the heat.
A rain system is anticipated to enter the city in two days, offering temporary respite from the oppressive weather. Nonetheless, citizens are being cautioned about the possibility of urban flooding from June 28 to 30, which could exacerbate the already challenging conditions.

Meanwhile, adding to the residents' woes, hourly loadshedding is being reported in areas such as Dharampura and Shadbagh. This issue is further compounded by operations conducted by the Lahore Electric Supply Company in the city, where electricity theft was uncovered in 50 houses.
The rampant electricity theft is contributing significantly to the loadshedding problem, leaving many without power during the hottest parts of the day.
