Authorities in Karachi have apprehended a tech-savvy gang involved in a sophisticated motorcycle theft and resale scheme.
The group, operating primarily from Gulbahar Colony, known as Golimar, meticulously stole motorcycles, tampered with engine and chassis numbers, and sold the vehicles online with forged documents.
Led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Zeeshan Siddiqui, the crackdown uncovered a three-stage modus operandi employed by the gang. Initially, they acquired legitimate documents for motorcycles, which formed the basis for their fraudulent activities.
Using these genuine papers as templates, they skillfully forged documents for stolen motorcycles, making them appear legally registered and trustworthy to potential buyers.
During the operation, police seized eight stolen motorcycles and recovered five chassis, highlighting the gang's extensive criminal activities across Karachi. The gang members, identified as Bilawal, Shah Rukh, and Rizwan, each played distinct roles in the operation: from lifting specific motorcycles upon demand to expertly tampering with critical identifiers like engine and chassis numbers.
"With the arrest of these individuals, legal proceedings have commenced to ensure justice is served," stated SSP Zeeshan Siddiqui, emphasizing the significance of this operation in combating motorcycle theft and fraud in Karachi.
