Real Madrid have officially announced that Kylian Mbappe will be presented as their new player at the Santiago-Bernabeu stadium next Tuesday.
This news came less than 24 hours after the former Paris Saint-Germain star and the French national team were eliminated from Euro 2024 by Spain in the semi-finals.
Mbappe, who will don the number 9 shirt, will be introduced at the Bernabeu at midday (1000 GMT) on Tuesday. Real Madrid's president, Florentino Perez, will oversee the signing of Mbappe's five-year contract, as confirmed by the club on Wednesday.
France's captain experienced a challenging Euro 2024, starting with a broken nose in the opening match against Austria. Despite his efforts, he missed a late chance to equalise in France’s 2-1 defeat to Spain on Tuesday.
Mbappe is expected to play his first competitive game for the Spanish and European champions when they begin their La Liga defense against Real Mallorca on the weekend of August 17/18. His first appearance at the Bernabeu is slated for a week later, when Madrid hosts newly-promoted Real Valladolid.
Joining Real Madrid as a free agent, Mbappe's annual salary is reported to be 15 million euros ($16.2 million), with additional bonuses totaling over 100 million euros.
