Three weeks after the federal budget was announced, inflation continues to rise in Pakistan, with a weekly increase of 0.76%.
The Bureau of Statistics released its latest report, indicating that the annual overall inflation rate has now reached 24.36%.
During the past week, the prices of 29 essential items saw an increase, while only five items became cheaper. The cost of chicken rose significantly by Rs 38.29 per kg, bringing the price up from Rs 373 to Rs 412 per kg. Similarly, the price of 390 grams of dry milk jumped by Rs 44.89.
Petrol prices also surged by Rs 10 per liter, exacerbating the financial strain on citizens. The cost of eggs increased by Rs 6.78 per dozen, and garlic prices went up by Rs 10.42 per kg. Other items that became more expensive include sugar, rice, and yogurt.
On the positive side, the price of tomatoes decreased by Rs 7.29 per kg, and bananas became cheaper by Rs 3.62 per kg.
Other items that have seen a drop in prices include onions, lentils, and LPG. Meanwhile, the prices of 17 items, including double bread, cooking oil, tea leaves, and cigarettes, have remained stable.
