Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shafqat Mahmood announced his 'retirement' from politics.
Shafqat Mahmood said he decided to leave politics after much ‘thought’.
“34 years ago today, I stepped into politics by resigning from the government job. I want to devote the rest of my life to writing and teaching,” Shafqat Mahmood said.
“This decision was not made due to any pressure, nor is there any intention to join any other political party,” Shafqat Mahmood clarified.
“This announcement is only to separate from politics,” former PTI leader said.
“It is related to the requirement of time and age,” Shafqat Mahmood cities reasons for the retirement from politics.
“I completely agree with those who say that youth should come forward in politics,” Shafqat Mahmood said in his statement.
