Members of the National and Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recently met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the pressing issues facing their constituencies.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of prioritising the welfare of the people in their respective areas.
Sharif established a committee led by Ishaq Dar to address and resolve the problems highlighted by the assembly members.
He reassured the members that Pakistan’s economy is on the path to improvement and reiterated the government’s commitment to the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly the merged districts.
The Prime Minister underscored the significance of providing quality health and education facilities in these regions. He announced plans to establish knowledge schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a special focus on the merged districts.
Furthermore, he urged elected representatives to support the government’s efforts in curbing electricity theft, which is crucial for the overall development and stability of the region.
Regarding reforms in the power sector, the Prime Minister said the government trying hard to eliminate electricity theft worth billions of rupees annually. He urged the elected representatives to cooperate with the government in ending electricity theft. He added that agricultural tube wells across the country are being shifted to solar energy.
He said by transferring the agricultural tube-wells to solar energy, not only the agricultural sector will develop but cheap electricity will also be available to the farmer. Besides, cultivated area will be increased and billions of dollars will be saved in terms of imported fuel.
The assembly members expressed their appreciation for the Prime Minister’s leadership and the positive trajectory of the nation's economy under his guidance.
They pledged their support in working towards the betterment of their constituencies and ensuring the provision of essential services to their people.
