Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is bracing for a new series of rains set to begin tomorrow (Sunday), as monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea are predicted to enter the upper regions of the province.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of KP has issued an alert to all district administrations, urging them to prepare for potential weather-related incidents.
Heavy rainfall is expected in several areas, including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Buner, Kohat, and Bajaur. Additionally, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is anticipated in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, and Waziristan.
The PDMA has indicated that this new rainfall series will continue intermittently until Wednesday. Due to the expected heavy rains, there is a heightened risk of landslides in the mountainous regions of the province. In light of this, the PDMA has issued instructions to district administrations to take pre-emptive measures to address any potential emergencies caused by the strong winds and rainfall.
The PDMA's alert is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and preparedness of the region in the face of adverse weather conditions. The organization has emphasized the importance of readiness and has provided specific instructions to the district administrations to mitigate the risks associated with the incoming weather system.
