Pakistan's Foreign Office has strongly refuted claims made in a recent report by the Jerusalem Post, which alleged that Pakistan had provided Shaheen-3 missiles to Iran.
In a clear and firm response, the FO spokesperson dismissed these reports as entirely baseless and false.
"The reports of giving Shaheen-3 missiles to Iran are clearly false," Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated, emphasizing the need to consider the source and the potentially malicious agenda behind such unfounded allegations.
The spokesperson also highlighted that this was a sensitive geopolitical climate in the Middle East, urging all parties, including media outlets, to act responsibly and avoid spreading misinformation. "This is a critical time in the Middle East, and all parties, including the media, should not be involved in spreading fake news," the spokesperson added.
Involvement in Bangladesh
The FO has also rejected statements alleging its involvement in the affairs of Bangladesh in the wake of toppling of Sheikh Hasina government. The spokesperson clarified during the weekly briefing that Pakistan maintains positive relations with Bangladesh.
Indian claims regarding Pakistan's involvement in the situation there are baseless and founded on lies. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated Professor Younis and expressed his desire to work together.
The spokesperson said it is hoped that the situation in Bangladesh will return to normal soon.
Pakistan awaiting further details of Asif Merchant case
Reacting to the arrest of Asif Merchant in America, the FO spokesperson said that Pakistan is awaiting further details of the case from the United States and more can be discussed once that information is received.
The spokesperson also mentioned that Pakistan values its relations with the United States and expressed hope that the US Congress will play a role in improving these relations.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that Pakistan stood with its Palestinian brothers and sisters during this difficult time and will continue to provide political and diplomatic support to its Kashmiri brothers and sisters.
