The Pakistani government has launched a crackdown on smuggling to stabilize the economy and ensure public safety. From August 4 to 11, authorities seized substantial quantities of smuggled goods nationwide, including 41.4 metric tons of sugar, 365.2 metric tons of fertilizer, 345.15 metric tons of flour, 31,951 cigarette sticks, 641 cloth rolls, and 0.13 million liters of Iranian oil.
City-wise seizures include 4,720 cigarette sticks from Quetta, 25,125 from Peshawar, 1,706 from Karachi, and 400 from Multan. Sugar confiscations amounted to 0.6 metric tons in Peshawar, 26.05 in Multan, and 14.75 in Quetta.
Karachi reported 18 cloth rolls seized, while Multan saw 345 metric tons of flour and 333.3 metric tons of fertilizer confiscated. Quetta authorities seized an additional 26.90 metric tons of fertilizer.
Since September 1, 2023, nationwide seizures total 3,791.2 metric tons of fertilizer, 1,382.33 metric tons of flour, 34,821 metric tons of sugar, 392,557 cigarette sticks, 150,746 cloth rolls, and 7.205 million liters of Iranian oil.
Relevant agencies remain committed to continuing anti-smuggling operations to help the country overcome economic challenges.
