The Energy Secretary attributed the increase in power prices to the pressure of the International Monitory Fund (IMF).
“We are under pressure to collect the interest on the revolving loan from the public,” the Energy secretary said.
“Whatever payments are made to the IPPs will be borne by the public,” the bureaucrat told the committee.
“We can no longer sit back, we have to put the burden on the consumer,” he added. He insisted Pakistan narrated the local narrative in meetings with the IMF, but they did not simply believe.
