Pakistan's accomplished female climber, Naila Kiani, achieved yet another remarkable milestone in her mountaineering journey by becoming the first Pakistani woman to conquer Cho Oyu.
Cho Oyu is the world's sixth-highest peak which is 8,188 meters tall.
Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary Karrar Haidri confirmed this feat by Naila Kiani while talking to SAMAA DIGITAL.
This feat was accomplished in the company of the Imagine Nepal team which also included Sirbaz Khan. Naila reached the summit of Cho Oyu at precisely 12:30pm Nepal Time.
This marks her 10th ascent of a peak exceeding 8,000 meters. In doing so, she solidified her position as the first and only Pakistani woman to conquer 10 eight-thousander.
Naila Kiani and Sirbaz Khan jointly achieved the distinction of being the first Pakistanis to summit Cho Oyu.
Her remarkable journey in high-altitude mountaineering began with her ascent of Gasherbrum II in 2021, followed by conquering K2 and Gasherbrum I in 2022.
However, her incredible adventure continued as she scaled Annapurna, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Manaslu, and Cho Oyu, all within just six months since April of this year.
Further, this is the 13th time that Sirbaz Khan summited 8,000-meter peak. This makes him the first and only Pakistani to do so.
In this feat, he summited 10 8,000-meter mountains without using supplementary oxygen.
