Following recent increases in electricity and gas prices, Karachi residents are now facing higher costs for water.
During the fifth meeting of the Water and Sewerage Board, chaired by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, a 23% increase in water bills was approved.
Sources indicate that the sewerage bills have also seen a rise, with a 14% increase, while water rates specifically have been hiked by 9%.
This latest increase adds to the financial burden on citizens already grappling with rising utility expenses.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that a municipal tax is now being collected through electricity bills, further adding to the cost of living in Karachi.
The decision is part of broader efforts by the city administration to address the growing financial needs of municipal services.
