Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir said on Wednesday that he is hopeful about the future of the nation, rubbishing off all such narratives that Pakistan is going to default economically.
Addressing the youth of Pakistan, “Where are those who were creating a narrative that Pakistan will default,” Army Chief Gen Asim Munir questioned the anti-state propagandists during his speech with the youth.
While emphasizing the significance of an independent state and the role of the youth in shaping the country’s future, he said that as Muslims, hopelessness is not an option and encouraged the youth to stay steadfast in their faith and efforts.
“The sparkle in your eyes gives me hope that Pakistan’s future is in safe hands.” He stressed the importance of an independent state, citing examples of Libya, Syria, Kashmir, and Gaza, where people have suffered due to a lack of sovereignty.
The COAS also warned about the dangers of social media, stating that it’s the state’s responsibility to protect citizens from its harmful effects. He underscored the need for a strong relationship between the people, government, and army to ensure security and development.
Quoting a verse from the Holy Quran, he reminded the audience that life is full of trials, and that belief alone is not enough; tests and challenges will always accompany it. He praised Pakistan’s youth as the country’s most valuable asset, vowing that their potential would not be squandered.
The Army Chief concluded his speech by reciting a famous verse by Allama Iqbal, which translates to, “The fate of nations is in the hands of individuals, every individual is the star of the destiny of the nation,” inspiring the youth to recognise their critical role in shaping Pakistan’s future.
During a Q&A session, General Munir addressed concerns about recent unrest in Para Chinar, urging local tribes to work together to resolve disputes.
He also praised the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their unwavering resistance against terrorism, reaffirming his belief that Pakistan will ultimately triumph over this menace with divine support.
