In response to a series of recent cyber attacks targeting Islamabad Police systems, including the Safe City project and internal records, the police department has announced plans to bolster its cybersecurity defences by recruiting specialized cyber experts.
Police sources have confirmed that six cyber attacks were carried out on the Islamabad Police’s digital infrastructure in recent days, wherein Safe City and internal records were hacked.
According to police sources, cyber attackers have obtained important records of the Islamabad Police, which is under investigation. While the extent of the data breach is still under investigation, immediate security measures have been implemented.
Sources said the attackers gained access to the passcodes of the Safe City and police websites, after which they were immediately changed.
To prevent future cyber threats, Islamabad Police have decided to recruit 49 cyber experts who will be stationed within the Safe City project. These newly recruited experts will undergo specialized training to enhance their ability to counter such cyber attacks and protect the police's digital assets effectively.
This proactive move highlights the increasing importance of cybersecurity in law enforcement as cybercriminals continue to target critical infrastructure.
