The government has launched a crackdown on smuggling to stabilize the economy and ensure public welfare. From September 1 to 8, 2023, authorities across the country seized 126.4 metric tons of sugar, 4 metric tons of flour, 3,252 cigarette sticks, 58 cloth bundles, and 0.959 million liters of Iranian oil.
In Karachi, officials confiscated 1,098 cigarette sticks, while 2,154 were seized in Quetta. Multan saw the seizure of 120 metric tons of sugar and 4 metric tons of flour, with an additional 6.4 metric tons of sugar intercepted in Quetta.
Iranian oil seizures amounted to 0.002 million liters in Multan, 0.064 million liters in Karachi, and 0.893 million liters in Quetta. Authorities also confiscated 10 cloth bundles in Multan and 48 in Quetta.
Since September 1, 2023, nationwide seizures include 13,088.75 metric tons of fertilizer, 3,470.106 metric tons of flour, 35,091.71 metric tons of sugar, 4,337,251 cigarette sticks, 151,292 cloth bundles, and 16.636 million liters of Iranian oil.
Relevant agencies remain committed to continuing anti-smuggling operations to address economic challenges.
