The annual elections of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) concluded with Malik Asif Niswana of the Professional Group securing victory as the new president.
He won the race by securing 7,050 votes, defeating Asma Jahangir Group's candidate, Saqib Akram Gondal, who received 6,460 votes.
According to the official results, Abdul Rehman Ranjha was elected as vice president after securing 8,255 votes.
Farrukh Ilyas Cheema won the secretary position with 6,833 votes, while Ham bin Shoaib Kamboh was elected unopposed as finance secretary. A total of 13,602 votes were cast in the elections.
As soon as the results were announced, young lawyers supporting the victorious candidates erupted in celebrations, chanting slogans, dancing bhangra, and lifting the winners onto their shoulders in excitement.
Multan High Court Bar elections
Muhammad Azhar Mughal of the PML-N Lawyers Forum won the president's slot, securing 3,387 votes.
He had a lead of 353 votes over his opponent, Chaudhry Umar Hayat, the candidate supported by Hamid Khan and Asma Jahangir group.
Presidential candidate Chaudhry Umar Hayat got 3,034 votes.
Islamabad High Court Bar Association elections underway
Meanwhile, elections for the Islamabad High Court Bar Association are still ongoing, with vote counting in progress.
So far, Abdul Wahid Qureshi is leading with 756 votes, followed by Wajid Ali Gilani in second place with 715 votes. The final results are expected soon.
