Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader and Senator Irfan Siddiqui expressed his strong disapproval of the recent disturbances within Parliament.
In a recent Senate session chaired by Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, he called for raising the stature and dignity of the legislative institution, emphasizing that such incidents cannot simply be overlooked or forgotten.
Speaking during the session, the Senator drew attention to his own past experiences during the previous PTI-led government, recalling how he was dragged out of his house during that time.
“Even then, the constitution was in place, yet these incidents happened. Such actions neither weaken the government nor affect Parliament itself,” he stated.
He acknowledged the ongoing investigation ordered by the Speaker of the National Assembly into the recent incident, stressing that those responsible should be held accountable once the inquiry concludes. “These are incidents that leave a permanent mark,” he added.
The Senator also expressed his disappointment that no PTI minister had spoken out against such actions during their time in office, saying, “I wish a PTI minister would have condemned this move when it happened.”
Furthermore, Siddiqui discussed the importance of promoting positive discourse within political meetings and debates, referencing discussions held by the PTI. He warned against promoting disruptive methods in the name of revolution, asserting, “Revolution does not come through sit-ins and abuses. You can only destroy and burn things with such behavior.”
