Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program will "not be enough" for financial self-sufficiency .
Expressing his thoughts, the premier hoped: "I pray that this will be going to be our last IMF programme. There is a need of hour to build a strong, self-reliant nation for spending lives with prestige."
"The reduction in the interest rate is all about providing relief to the industrialists and investors. "The interest rate will continue to fall," the premier stated.
Speaking about the inflation, the premier expressed optimism about the reduction of the inflation further.
He emphasised the need for moving forward with the "clarity of mind.".
– PM Shehbaz resolves to increase investors' confidence –
Earlier on Thursday, PM Shehbaz resolved to increase the confidence of the investors in connection with the economy of the country.
Expressing his thoughts during the federal cabinet meeting, the premier said: "The talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are moving forward in the right direction. It is time to become independent as a nation by getting rid of all the loans."
He expressed his gratitude to the friendly countries for extending their cooperation. "The friendly-countries have once again rose to the occasion in terms of extending their support."
PM Shehbaz had welcomed the cut in key policy rate by 200 bps to 17.5 pc by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
"I pray that the interest rate will fall to a single digit like inflation.".
