Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has rejected claims made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur regarding direct talks with Afghanistan, calling the statement far from reality.
The veteran political leader also clarified that the current situation in KPK does not warrant the imposition of governor’s rule.
Speaking to Samaa TV, he acknowledged that law and order issues exist in several districts of KPK. However, he said that despite these challenges, the province is not facing conditions severe enough to justify the imposition of governor’s rule.
The JUI chief further described Gandapur’s comments about holding direct talks with Afghanistan as an “emotional” outburst, disconnected from reality.
He underscored that international diplomatic matters are not handled in such a way and dismissed the notion as impractical.
Fazlur Rehman also mentioned that his party has put forward its own set of reforms related to constitutional amendments, although he did not elaborate on the specifics during this interaction.
