Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan urged on Saturday white-ball captain Babar Azam to merely focus on his game.
Expressing his thoughts, the T20 World Cup 2009-winning captain said: "The reason why Babar Azam was made the captain of the national team was because he was the top-performer. Babar Azam had achieved plenty of milestones at the very young age."
He was of the view that people associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should brush aside the personal interest for the sake of uplifting cricket in the country.
"Some of the players talk more instead of focusing on their game," he added.
Khan said: "The captain should not be appointed on the basis that he will follow the instructions easily."
– Play for country's sake –
Few days back, Khan urged on Wednesday the national cricket team to play for the sake of the country.
According to details, Khan highlighted the pressure to play cricket in home conditions, saying, "There is always a pressure to play cricket in home conditions. What is the benefit to the players if they cannot absorb the pressure? There is a dire need for the players to boost their morale."
Speaking about the appointment of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah as the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, Khan said: "The cricket should uplift with the appointment of Jay Shah as the ICC chief."
"Jay Shah needs to show the sportsman spirit, as with the good initiatives of the ICC chief, India can come to Pakistan to play cricket. In the same way, Pakistan can visit India."
