The Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has ordered the closure of the entire Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore team.
This decision includes Deputy Director Mian Sabir and his subordinate staff, comprising nine assistant directors, inspectors, sub-inspectors, and assistant sub-inspectors. The team has been directed to report to the office of the Additional DG North.
The closed officers include Assistant Directors Naeem Akhtar, Zeeshan Khokhar, and Zoar, alongside Inspectors Shahzeb Khan and Naeem Sajid. The sub-inspectors affected are Shuzab Mukhtar, Sohail Salamat, and Imtiaz Niazi, while Assistant Sub-Inspector Ansar Saifullah Malhi has also been instructed to report to the Additional DG North.
This unprecedented move follows the recent reassignment of FIA Director Sarfaraz Khan Work, who has been directed to report to the Establishment Division. The sudden reshuffling of the zonal head and the closure of the Anti-Corruption Circle team have raised eyebrows among insiders and observers alike.
Sources suggested that these actions are linked to ongoing investigations into allegations of over-billing by Pasco and Lesco. The cases have been under scrutiny by the Ministry of Interior and the Prime Minister's Office, with reports of irregularities prompting intervention from the Prime Minister's Inspection Team.
An anonymous FIA official revealed that the Prime Minister's Office has acted upon reports of anomalies in the Pasco and Lesco cases, leading to the recent drastic measures.
