Former chief selector Azhar Khan has said that Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan is the best choice to lead Pakistan white-ball side following the resignation of Babar Azam.
Expressing his thoughts on the Samaa TV programme, Khan said: “Mohammad Rizwan has always ranked among the top four Pakistani players, who have always looked to perform.”
Speaking about the coach role in a team, Khan said: “I feel that the coach also needs to show flexibility instead of being rigid and sticking to merely his own game plan. If the captain plan is corresponded, then the coach should give some leverage to the skipper.”
“The onus lies on the coach to coincide with his captain and form the strategy to uplift the team’s performance,” Khan said.
Khan maintained: “The coach should realize that maybe the plan shared by the captain is right, and I should provide him with some leverage. I think the captain and coach need to show some flexibility. This is not the right way to show arrogance, whether you are coach or captain.”
Khan maintained, "If any of them [coach and captain] will show arrogance, the cricket as a whole will suffer greatly."
