Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Sherry Rehman said on Thursday that her party was looking to reach consensus with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over the matters pertaining to the constitutional courts and reforms.
Speaking to media following her meeting with Fazlur Rehman, Sherry said: “It is always a good experience to meet Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Even it is the instructions from PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to reach consensus with Fazlur Rehman in the matters relevant to the constitutional courts and reforms.”
“You will know the worth of our meeting in the coming days. There is a need to hold the meetings frequently in politics. It is important to take everybody on board,” she said.
“We are looking to bring every political stakeholder on one-page. However, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has his own ideology,” Sherry added.
She said, “We want to move forward by taking everybody, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman.”
Sherry said: “The PPP will come up with its own proposal. However, there is no idea whether the other parties come up with the proposals or not.”
Speaking about Bhutto-Zardari’s meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, Sherry said: “The PPP has shared old relations with Nawaz Sharif. It [PPP] also has a history of the charter of democracy with Nawaz Sharif. This meeting is also part of the charter of democracy.”
Earlier, Sherry-led delegation called on Rehman to discuss the current political issues.
