Mohammad Haris’ unbeaten 49-ball 71 and Shahnawaz Dahani five-for helped Pakistan trounce United Arab Emirates by 114 runs and the reach the semi-final of Emerging Asia Cup 2024 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of UAE were bundled out for 65 inside the 17th over as the Shaheens’ bowlers perplexed the Emirati team in no time. Only UAE skipper Rahul Chopra showed some resistance, plundering 18-ball 20.
For the Shaheens, Shahnawaz Dahani (5-12) proved his mettle and went on to grab a five-for.
Sufiyan Muqeem was brilliant for his 2-17.
Ahmed Daniyal (1-10), Abbas Afridi (1-12) and Arafat Minhas (1-13) took a scalp each.
Earlier, after opting to bat first, the Shaheens lost two wickets for 48. Omair Yousuf (21 off 11) and Yasir Khan (25 off 13) showed some resistance.
Mohammad Harjs notched a resilent 49-ball 71, lacing with six boundaries and three sixes.
Qasim Akram was cautious and went on to compile a 28-ball 23.
Haider Ali (32 off 17) remained unconquered and went on clobbered one boundary and three sixes in the death overs. He steered Pakistan to imposing 179-4 in 20 overs.
For UAE, with the exception of Mohammad Farooq, no bowler had managed to take a scalp.
Farooq (3-27) had picked up three wickets.
For skittling UAE on a low score, Dahani had bagged the player of the match award.
