Pakistan off-spinner Sajid Khan said on Thursday that the record does not matter but victory.
Speaking to media following the end of day one of the third Test at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Khan expressed his gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), saying, “I would like to express my gratitude to the PCB for ensuring that there is something for the spinners.”
“The pitch conditions here in Rawalpindi is different from Multan,” he said.
Acknowledging the role of spinner Noman Ali, Khan said: “Noman Ali is having a vast experience, who guides me.”
He shed light on Pakistan’s scorecard following the end of day one of the decisive Test, saying, “We made a mindset that we will lose one wicket on the end of day one. But we lost three. Though the big partnership will ensure a good total in the first inning.”
Khan hailed England batter Jamie Smith’s innings in the lower order, saying, “England would not have reached 267 if we had managed to remove Smith earlier.”
He appreciated the spectator turnaround in Rawalpindi, saying, “The crowd came in Multan as well as in Rawalpindi.”
Meanwhile, Khan continued to carry his good form and went on to rack up six crucial wickets to ensure the restriction of the visitors under 300 in their first innings.
