Pakistan's national cricket team skipper Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan have taken the unprecedented step of turning off the comments section on their Instagram posts.
Sources close to the players revealed that following India's resounding victory, an influx of Indian social media users directed critical comments at Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan's Instagram accounts.
The comments reportedly targeted various aspects of the players' lives, including their religion and nationality.
In response to the onslaught of online criticism, both players have chosen to restrict the comments section on their Instagram posts.
Babar Azam, in particular, has closed the comments section on his last three Instagram posts and is expected to maintain these restrictions in the coming days. Even if he posts on his birthday today, sources suggest that comments will remain limited.
Additionally, Mohammad Rizwan has also taken steps to restrict his Instagram account, presumably to shield himself from the barrage of comments that ensued after the Pakistan-India match.
In the high-octane clash, India emerged victorious with a convincing 7-wicket win. Rohit Sharma's impressive knock of 86 runs, featuring 6 fours and as many sixes, played a pivotal role in India's success.
On the other side of the pitch, Pakistan struggled, managing only 191 runs, as five Indian bowlers shared the spoils, each taking two wickets. It was a game that reminded cricket fans of the electrifying India-Pakistan encounters that have thrilled audiences for decades.
